People in Puerto Rico live in poverty everyday. Their parents have jobs that can't provide enough money for their children and themselves. The children go to bed malnourished and have a bad day at school the next day. These kids are constantly hungry and barely ever get enough food. In the summer, when their schools don't feed them, they have one maybe 2 meals a day.
In Mississippi, there is a low average income and a low minimum wage. One of the lowest in all of the United States in fact. People get frustrated daily with the lack of income that they rightfully deserve. As a result, children go to sleep hungry. They must rely on food banks to eat. Something needs to change. It is also difficult for people living under the poverty line to go to college. Their college fund is low and if they are lucky they could go to a cheap school. These people only get one chance at life as do we. They shouldn't spend it eating little food and not getting a good education.
